Hi Madhu,
A nice guide line for the fresher. Where as Standing Orders of different state and company prescribed other punishment also such as warning, fine, suspension, dismissal / discharge, wiholding of increment, demotion etc. Also the clause for appointment of defence representative differs. In Maharashtra workman may defend through an office bearer of union of which he is a member or coworkman of his choice. In the same way the other state may have similar provision in standing order. How ever nice effort to enlighten the memebers. Keep on posting.

Certainly, the disciplinary action should be according to the Standing Orders only. Please see that in the PPT the same is stated.
For defence personnels the procedure is different and I have not tried to go for that.
Not only in Maharashtra but in other parts of country also an employee shall be assisted by a defence helper and in most of the cases he will be an office bearer of the trade union.
