If theft has been proved beyond any doubt, dismissal can be awarded. But before dismissing it is better to give him a chance of being herd in person. Therefore, I suggest you to conduct a disciplinary enquiry after serving him a charge sheet. Otherwise, your dismissal order may bounce back.
