I would like to hear your opinions on the appraisal system in the IT industry. Currently, we adhere to a 6-monthly appraisal system. I am curious to know if the same system is followed in other middleware IT organizations. What do you think is the correct method to evaluate an IT professional? I mean, what type of appraisal system should be used?

Hi Kanupriya,

The appraisal system should be self-appraisal + manager's ratings. The period of appraisal can depend solely on the internal policy of the organization. It cannot be termed as right or wrong.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I wanted to know what is followed in the rest of the middleware IT companies. We currently have a six-monthly appraisal system. Due to the depreciation in the currency, there has been a fall in IT compensation. We are planning to now have a yearly appraisal policy. Hence, I just wanted to know if it is the right time to implement a yearly policy or if we should wait for some more time.
