I have completed my MBA in HR and am now planning to pursue a Ph.D. I have visited several associate professors, and they have advised me to first choose some topics, create a synopsis, and then I would be able to enroll. Can anybody suggest some upcoming HR topics?

Hi,

There are many good universities that offer PhD programs. I'm also pursuing a PhD from IIT Delhi.

Yes, dear, you are required to do your homework before approaching the guide. Decide on a good topic and draft your synopsis, for which any professor or assistant professor can help.

Once the synopsis is ready, it still takes 3-6 months to get approval for the topic. So, be sure of the material and read lots of books, journals, magazines, articles, and search online.

Happy searching :)

Hi,

Can somebody throw some light on the procedure for admission, eligibility criteria, etc.? What are the universities that offer these courses? Basically, I hold a PGDBA in HR (through distance learning) and have 2+ years of work experience. Can someone help?

Cheers,

Hi Babita,

This is Shruti here. I am working as a software engineer and now planning to pursue a Ph.D. on HRIS. This topic is nice to explore and analyze. HRIS itself is vast, so you have to choose what aspects you will cover in your research program. As I am well-versed in IT, I am planning to study HRIS software in different IT companies, their costs, usage, and effects on company growth along with employee satisfaction. I will share more on the synopsis which I will submit within this month if you are interested.

Hi,

I have the same doubt as Poorna. I have finished my PGDBA from Symbiosis Institute Pune through distance education and am interested in doing my Ph.D. in HRM next year. I need some information regarding the universities which offer a Ph.D. in HRM in India and also if the PGDBA certificate holds good in this case. I have been working for the past 5 years with experience in 2 reputed MNCs. Kindly clear my doubt as soon as possible.

Thanks and Regards,
Nisha :)

Hi Babita, Nisha, and Shruti,

I would like to add the following:

1. PGDBM is equivalent to MBA as per AICTE's latest orders, but it is applicable to only a few universities that offer distance learning education due to a lack of awareness. Firstly, you have to check the equivalence status of your education.

2. You have to submit a synopsis, which is required in most universities. I already have access to many theses on different areas of HR for reference, which have guided me in formulating my own synopsis/thesis. Please visit your nearby university and procure the relevant material tactfully to share among the team members.

3. I am also in the process of enrolling in some reputable universities and am awaiting a call from IMT Ghaziabad. By the way, I have already enrolled at CCS University for a PhD, but this is just a temporary arrangement.

My topic is 'Knowledge Management and the HRD Implications,' which is a broad area of coverage. I suggest that all of you customize this topic/synopsis as per your requirements/area of work.

4. We do not have any competition and will enroll in different universities, so we can work together on a sharing basis as a team.

Please keep in touch.

Best regards,
Alok

Hi all,

I have completed my MHRDM from Mumbai University and would also like to pursue a Ph.D. Would anyone be interested in forming a group to help each other choose a subject, write a synopsis, share material, and find a guide, etc. What do you all say?

Thanks,

Hi Archana,

I have completed my M.B.A. (HR) from Pune University and intend to pursue a Ph.D. I would be glad if you could provide insights into what needs to be done and how to proceed with it. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated since you are also pursuing the same.

Thanks and Regards,
