Infosys employees to undergo certification for promotion
In what will be the first such comprehensive exercise in the IT industry, all the 91,000-odd employees of India's second-largest IT services provider, Infosys Technologies, will now have to pass certification programs to get promoted. The certification program, conducted every March, is now being extended across the board and will test the employees' domain expertise, and grade them accordingly to be eligible for promotion. This is a very fair policy. Most BPOs follow this procedure wherein they get rid of low performers and bring in fresh blood in the organization. I feel it's very important for my seniors to know more than what I know, or else I might respect him just due to his designation and not because of his knowledge.
