Hi First please let me know do you have any specific policy for this like Wearing their ID card properly at all times during work hours or what kind of attendance/punching system you are using in your organization.
The very first and important question is why we use this system "Wearing ID Card at Work" because the image of the company is important to us as well as complimenting the image of the Clients we work for and to ensuring that everyone within the company looks professional, and conforms to the highest standards of dress code, presentation and personal conduct etc. And this ID CARD system is one of them.
Do you have any following policy in your organization,
1. Uniform and dress code policy
2. Employee Conduct Policy
2. Employee work wear or Hygiene Policy
If not, please make these policies and let your employees know about it so that they can follow this and also you are requested to check attendance/punching system by their punch/ID Card.
Also you need to make a clause in the policy for the supervisors or can give this responsibility to a personnel to check on the regular intervals whether an employee is wearing his/her I-CARD or not.

Dear Trupti, You just need to make this as an mandatory act/policy for an employee and being a HR make sure that each and every employee adhere to the newly formed policy.

The best possible way or an option is put a door lock which opens only through access card. The day when an employee forgets to get his card will have to inform the HR first. If there is a security on the door give strict instructions as to door are to be opened only by employees access card.
Slowly it will form a trend. You cannot expect a change soon right......?

Hello Trupti,
I got very good results by introducing Access Control System in my office. In this system each employee is assigned a Proximity ID Card whit predefined access right to each door. So, if someone doesn't use his card, he will have to request someone else (who has access right to that particular door) to open the door for him every time he wants to pass. As it is embarrassing to request other colleagues
for such a task, everybody spontaneously uses ID Card for his convenience.
This might also work for your organization!!!

First you need to do an awareness session to the management about the importance of wearing ID cards in the workplace and get their support.
Then you can formulate a company policy on ID card as a part of the dress code of the organization and educate company's security personnel to avoid entering any employee to the office premises without their ID card,. But this should be applicable to all the staff even the senior Management. Thats why we need to get the Management support first before implementing such a policy....

But I would like to add just onething, you Mr.truptiprasad as hr employee is the responsible for handling this issue, so you an take a supervision round all over the sections inside your company that if you find any one doesn't wear his ID you can give him the suitable punishment, ONLY IT'S BACK TO THE INTERNAL POLICY !!

If ID card is for access control, then i think everybody would be wearing/carrying it.
Generally, ID card is used for identification purpose, especially when representing the company at clients place, so that the client can be sure enough that the guy is from the specific organisation, whenever, representing the company, an employee MUST display his ID Card.
But, when the employee is in the organisation, is it requird that he must display his identity? Personally I dont think that is necessary, especially if the size of employees is less and everybody recognises others........
Guys, this is my personal opinion....... Please do air your thoughts on this.
