Hi, I want to know the actual procedure for forklift operators, because our operators have LMV license but in West Bengal, there is no separate license issued from RTO, for safety measures or reasons need to correct and authorized license... Please suggest to us.

Dear RS1407,
I doubt whether the forklift operation requires a license. Forklifts are used within the warehouses. Therefore, ordinary LMV licenses are sufficient to operate the forklifts. However, you may check with the manufacturer of the forklift for the licensing requirements to operate the forklifts.
Thanks,

As per my understanding, forklift comes under the preview of industrial use machines.
For using the forklift driver must have the commercial licence as using forklift within premises including the precincts.
You need to check with the local authority (factory or labour) for getting the clear picture on it.

Forklift operators do need a valid license to operate a forklift. Some states in India issuing separate license for forklift operators and some are not. It is the call of a management to decide whether the person need LMV or HMV(NT) to operate a FLT in their premises.

As per OSHA 1926.1427 FLT operator shall be trained and shall have a valid license/certified.
