Dear Shanti,
If u r doing project in IT company & the topic is Employee Retention, then get few of the concepts clear. These concepts are :-
1. Exit Interviews and its analysis
2. Counter offer giving to the employee
3. On site exposure expectations of employees
Hope u search out these concepts and strategies used in the company in which you are doing your project. This would help you out in your project.

Dear Shanti,
Please read some scholarly articles on that topic, as MBA student's project has to be academically sound. Then decide on what your aim and objectives should be for the study in consultation with your tutor guide and the mentor at work. That will give you an idea of what information to collect. Please see my thread on Research Methodology.
Have a nice day.
