now whether his service will continue from previous or will be count as new.

Hi,
Please clarify the period of break it is not clear. Are you meaning 1.5 months ? If it is one or two months and if it is already approved by employer, then you can treat the absence period as break-in-service and continue with old employment. If period of absence is more and if previous employment settlement is over then offer him a new employment.

Dear Friend, There is no legal obligations of rejoining process and don’t make this more critical, follow the simple way i.e show up as a new employee.
