Dear Svenkataram,
The professional tax slabs differ from one state to the other. By which means I understand you belong to the AP region and therefore the P.Tax 2012 are as follows:
5001- 6000 is Rs. 60
6001- 10000 is Rs.80
10001 - 15000 is Rs. 100
15001 - 20000 is Rs. 150
20000 and above is rs. 200

Dear Svenkataram,
P.Tax always deducted on Net Salary, which doesnot include contribution for PF and ESI. It is accountable on Basic Salary+ HRA+ DA and Conveyance allowance + Medical and other Special Allowance if any.
I hope this clarifies your query.
