Mine is a very peculiar problem.
I am working in company for around 8 months. Most of the employee's age is double than mine and it is their first and perhaps last job here as they would retire from here only. Moreover, very very few female employees are working here.
I had have very open communication with my boss and we shared only professional relationship. He is recently relieved from the company. It is also pertinent to mention that though he was in HR, other employees across levels, never relied on him. And because I was reporting to him, other employees are feeling that I am still at his side though, he is no more with the company. This has created barrier between me and other employees resulting in keeping myself aloof from other employees and not mixing or being friendly with them.
I need your help to know how to break this barrier and to make them (employees) understand that I am only at the companies side ( not of my ex boss) and want to be friendly and mix with the employees who are working here since more than 20 years.
Pl. advice me.

When I started work in Productivity Services, which is also a service department like HR, I was advised to be friendly with all the staff. Hence, you can do that. Try to break the ice by going for coffee breaks with them and talk to them. As you are the one that's keeping aloof from them, it is for you to break the barrier. Start with the few female employes if that makes it easy.
My wife was the only female technician in a male dominated Civil Engineering Dept in a college. But she made friends with all and was not familiar with anyone.

Well if you feel that this company is not suited for you then keep on learning from this company and keep the top management in loop obviously when your boss resigned the top management will come to know also when top management realizes that all HR managers are resigning one after the another , then they will surely smell something fishy . If you are afraid then learn maximum you can keep trying for another opportunity and then switch the job. Because tomorrow you should also get reliving letter and proper experience certificate.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Actually, currently, I am neither in position to change job nor want to, due to personal reasons. So, switching job will not help. But, I want tips that can make me friendly with other employees.
