My company has informed me on 4/4/2020 that I have been retired with effect from 1/4/2020. I am 58 years and 2 months old. Earlier the retirement age of the company was 60 years. As the blow has come out of blue, during lockdown, finding it difficult to understand what to do against such inhuman, insensitive ,forced and premature retirement.

Has the retirement age been changed for all employees?
Action of employer prima facie appears to be irregular.
What is your designation?
Please consult a labour law advocate and wait for things to be become normal and courts resuming normal work.

Hi
Yes please follow as to what has been mentioned by our learned friend and also Maharashtra Govt. had clearly indicated not to retrench, cut or do any harm to the employees during these trying times.
Check the link and try to see if you can do anything online in the meantime by contacting the Labour department of your state. Nothing to lose, have hope and try your best.
Thanks and Regards

No retirement Age can be changed without giving notice of Change under section 9 A of I D Act. Pl write to the company first to withdraw retirement letter. If not rectified then contact labour commissioner and if you are in Mumbai write to Chief Secretary, Govt of Maharashtra as he has issued an order u/s 24 of the Disaster Management Act. Any violation of his order will attract legal action under section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act and forward copy to the company.
