Hi everyone, I have a doubt in pt? if the person salary is more than 15000 and with lop of 15 days leave, his earnings will be only 7500. I need to clarify whether PT should be calculated only gross salary even the person is on lop or it should be calculated with his earnings with lop? Kindly clarify

PT is calculated on earnings. In the e.g. give by you, PT should be calculated on 7500 and not 15000. Regards, Manish

In the data provided by you, your PT will be deducted on the gross salary for the total payable days and not your overall days. However, take home salary will come after all the deductions, i.e. once your gross salary is calculated on the basis of total number of payable days then statutory deductions are made which will bring your take home salary.

Professional Tax is calculated on the Gross Earning of the said month and not the take home salary. If the Gross salary is 15K and if the employee was on LOP the Gross earning of that employee for that particular month will be 7.5k and accordingly the PT will be deducted
