Dear friend,

It will be difficult to give reply to your query unless we know the context. Are you student or professional?

Organisational values are derived from the psychology of the business owner. What is important to him? Does he have risk appetite? Is he innovative? What type of culture does he want in his organisation?

Secondly, if the organisation is old and its culture is well congealed then changing the culture by introduction of certain values does not help. Example is Merissa Mayar of Yahoo who joined Google when it was in nascent stage. About three years she quit Google to become CEO of Yahoo. Nevertheless, three years after her joining nothing significant has happened. She should not turnaround Yahoo.

The opposite example of Mr Vishal Sikka, the present CEO of Infosys. When Infosys had started showing signs of stagnation, about two years he became CEO. In the last two years he has breathed oxygen into Infosys which founders of Infosys could not do.

There are sufficient number of books on Organisation Behaviour (OB). I recommend you reading the chapter on organisation values and organisation culture. This will clarify your doubt.

Thanks,
