I am not aware of any "assessment" processes.
When interviewing candidates you need to be asking about their sales numbers with previous employers, and you also need to be asking behavioural based STAR questions on their sales ability, dealing with customers, problem solving, generating new business, maintaining existing client relationships, integrity and ethics, etc.
Sales, per se, is much the same in any business, the questions just need to be tweaked to reflect the product being sold, be it insurance, FMCG, cars, widgets, etc. and the type of client the salesperson is dealing with.
