Employees hired on direct contract doesn't pose much liability on employer also their term is pre defined unless contract is renewed.
Employers usually do such direct contracts when the work is of temporary nature and treat them as hired professionals.
Company's payroll refers to actual employment with all liabilities lies with employer.
