Dear Joshi,
The salary slip normally does not contain the mode of payment. As per the provisions of Income Tax Act, 1961, your net salary is payable Rs.20,000/- and above, your company should disburse your salry through your bank account. If it is less, the payment will be made in cash on the stipulated date. This is the common practice where all the companies and organized sectors are being followed. If you are getting the salary as per pay/salary slip or not ? If yes forget the mode of payment.

The Payment of Wages Act, 1936 stipulates as under with regard to mode of payment :
"6. Wages to be paid in current coin or currency notes –
All wages shall be in current coin or currency notes or in both :
Provided that the employer may after obtaining the written authorisation of the employed person pay him the wages either by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account."
So long as they adhere to the above sec. it's OK if your office is covered under this act.

HAI MEMBERS,
THERE IS NOT SPECIFIC FORMAT FOR PAYSLIP. SO PEOPLE ARE DESIGNING THE PAYSLIP IN THEIR OWN PATTERN.
IT IS BETTER TO MENTION BANK ACCOUNT IF PAID THROUGH BANK, AS IT IS STATUTORY TO PAY THE SALARY THROUGH BANK. BUT MANY ORGANISATION ARE NOT SO.

Most of the estts. where more no.of employees are on roll use the pre-printed pay slips where many of the employees' particulars find place, such as name, emp.No., month, details of salary, deductions, net, leave, EPF No./ESI No. and also mode of payment like cash or cheque or thru' bank a/c No. In respect of those who have opted for drawing salary thru' bank a/cs only bank name or code is mentioned. Normally bank a/c no. is not mentioned to maintain secrecy. Every code list supported with details of employees and net salary credited is sent to the concerned banks for effecting the credit to the a/c. holders a/c. Here what is important is the mode of payment whether by cash or by bank. cheque payments are not encouraged due to work load involved.
