Dear All, I want to know that, how many days should be worked in a week for the "weekly off" required under the factory act. If anybody has joined a company on Friday, will he get rest for Sunday? The factory is closed only on Sunday in a week.

Under Factories Act , one day off in a week of 7 days is must. In this case the factory is closed only on Sunday in a week and the employee has joined one Friday. Therefore, the employee will work for Friday and Saturday then Sunday will be weekly off. From next week on wards there will be no issue.

One needs to work 6 days worked or min 48 hrs prior to weekly off day. Further, every establishment followed different rules to administrate leave, holidays, weekly holiday, C off and National & Festival holidays as per their registration under act.

Dear colleague,
Ordinarily, for six days work ( actual work and authorised leave) one weekly off is mandatory under the FA/Rules.
If somebody joins on any day during the week , he will get weekly off as factory remains closed on weekly off day.
