My company is having us enrolled in a corporate wellness initiative called Stepathlon. The introductory mail sent to us seemed very exciting. Apparently this is the second season of the virtual race and participants have to complete 10,000 steps a day for 100 days.
Now 10,000 seems a lot. Want to know if any one of you participated for Stepathlon 2012 and how was your experience?

There are a lot of programs round the world now I think that involve trying to do 10,000 steps each day.
Not sure where the original program started, maybe US or Canada.
We run these programs in Australia, and one employer I worked for in 2012, ran it for employees for a month. Those that signed up for the competition were given a free pedometer to measure the daily steps, and we had to enter our totals each day on a website. We were also in teams based on our workplace. The winning team with the most steps at the end of the month was given a free "healthy" morning tea party.
I still try and do my 10,000 steps every day.
Good luck with your program.

This is brilliant! I have a stand-up work-station, which meets every ergonomics. Its an excellent way to work for long hours. Standing in the right posture, offers a better blood circulation . It also helps us to loose calories, as its an exercise of its own
I used to own a treadmill, but had an accident, few years back, due to which, I can no longer use it. I still practise the 10,000-steps-a-day while chanting, with moderation.
There might be employees in your organisation with a slip-disc or other injuries. You might need to involve an expert or a physical trainer. Please find a suitable option for them . Wish you all the best
