Dear All,
Pls. anyone give me idea that can we use basement for machine installation. If possible or not please mention Section & clouse under Factory Act.1948.I am working in HR department in a automobile manufacturing company.

Dear Rakesh,
I have also enquired from Labour Office, Gurgaon regarding this query. They have told that this is no allowed under the proviso of the Act & rules.I have not enquired the section or rules. Therefore, I would suggest you to contact the Sonepat, Labour Office (Factory Wing). For any further clarification the Assistant Director (Industrial Safety & Health) Sonepat or Sr.Assistant Director (Industrial Safety & Health) Panipat may be contacted for this query & to know the section & rules.

dear rakesh i too feel same what mr khola has said and i donot think officially you can set the machinery in basement for production.you please confirm with factories dept. tks j s malik

our factory was inspected by factory inspector and they charged on us as we have a big machinery plant in our basement.
ours is a manufacturing unit. can any one tell me if machinery in basement is allowed or not under factory act. plz tell me the section also
