Dear seniors,
How would you react and do your job when management says to you that you need to report Mr. X. And there is nothing in Mr. to X you can learn, get motivated; as he himself is not disciplined, not skilled as required and doesn’t want anybody to come-up unto his level as he is only directly reporting to the MDs.
Please share your views/opinion and suggestions to deal this kind of situation.

Hi Om,
I think that every person has some advantage which if properly utilized can be successful in career and personal life.
If the person you are going to report to has grown in the organization without enough knowledge technically, then he might be having some special skill. If you can learn that skill, it would be great for you.
Reporting to the MDs has its own challenges as well. You can also benefit by learning how he is tackling those challenges as not all conversations happen inside the cabins.
One option is to say that he has grown to that level only by talking and impressing the MDs and give up and find a new job, which i think is not right because of the above reasons.
The other options is to stay, research and gain knowledge from your boss and implement in your attitude, so you can also become successful.
This is just my opinion and i stand corrected if i am wrong.

Hi Om,
Your problem is not unique and many of us might have faced such situation - myself for one. Out of my experience, I can say that learning from the 'Transactional Analysis' concept helps, where you learn how to deal with different Personalities (Parents, Adults, and Child personalities). Here you have to understand the other person's personality and then act accordingly. That guy being your Boss deserves respect by default.
Keep reporting to him in professional manner, and sometimes in a language beyond his understanding. Let him come to you for clarifications, then 'train' him and show him your knowledge, skills and abilities there. Make him dependant on you.
Add value with some good presentation of reports. Don't worry about 'credit-taking-game'. If rest of the organisation knows his 'capabilities' then MD should also not be an exception. The good presentation or reports by you shall definitely fetch you your due recognition by one and all.
However, keep one thing in mind. If he has been made to be your Boss, then the golden rule says "DO NOT SUPERCEDE YOUR BOSS, EVER". Rather, ask him whether YOU can explain the reports, facts, figures, etc. to the Management. I'm sure he'll be happy to let you do so because of his own shortcomings.
All the best!

Respected Prashant and Siva Sir,
Thank a lot for your valuable comments and views. I would try my level best to follow your words going forward.
Let me tell you one thing that might give you a chance to re-think. It is a start-up company, and me and my would be boss joined this company within two month difference. We both are having almost same yrs. of exp. But as you mentioned, he might be having some special skills that is why he has been directly reporting to MDs. or may be because he joined before me.
Any second thought after this. please.....
Anyway I know "BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT".
Manoj sir, thanks for your views.

Until You Gets Your Regular Salaries Nothings Wrong Whether You Report To Whom.
This Question Arises When Your Management Realised Underutilization Of Your Potential.
This Mean You Still Have To Prove Your Prtential And Win The Confidence Of Your Management.
This Is My Conclusion.

Dear OM,
If u r a fresher, then u cannot afford to change your job, as already the complete industrial sector is under recession.
But I disagree with what is said by other members about creditability of your boss.
There are greater chances that a person can move ahead in organization ladder due to coincidence and shear luck. That might be the case with your boss too!!
There is no point in wasting your time with a non value adding person. Moreover if he is not willing to share his exp/ knowledge with you then after sm time, you will find yourself doing clerical work only.
But make sure you get a good job first before going for a revolt.
Also remember the phrase “First Deserve than Desire”

Dear OM
I don’t think so. In my opinion some rules should also be there for employees working in Private organizations. Condition becomes even worst when someone has to report to a boss who is inefficient, incapable and not having some special skill and knowledge and most of such bosses are promoted not due to their caliber but only due to buttering and cheap method used by them for pleasing the seniors.
It has been seen that in most of the organizations even 10th, undergraduate employees are promoted and when such incapable persons become bosses, situation really become very embarrassing and demotivation of employees start in such culture. In such organizations what is the meaning of qualification ,knowledge and skills.I know Boss is Boss and he is considered always right in our society but we have to change our society if we want improvement otherwise we cannt stop deterioration of our society.
