Sir, No grace period is available in any labour law for new establishment. Compliance to the applicable laws is required from its start. P K Sharma

For e.g., can I start PF & ESI after 2 months and give it to all the workers from the start date?
A lot of workers come & go at the initial stages and maintaing records for such workers is a cumbersome activity.
Also want to know for a cottage industry, is it a mandate to register under Factories Act. My understanding from DIC is that only 'Udhyog Aadhaar Registration" is required as per current guidelines.

In continuation to the earlier submissions, please note that if you are employing minimum number of employees required for coverage, you are legally bound to make compliance from that particular date. Delay in compliance attract imposition of penal and interest etc. If a person is even working for single day and you are going to pay wages / salary, you are required to maintain all prescribed records. No excuse for initial stage or cumbersome activity.
Udyog Aadhar is another process which you have to obtain online from MSME site which is treated like a birth certificate of any industry and will be requisitioned by various authorities from time to time.
