Dear Rosy, Payroll is a part of HR and Payroll is linked with Financial matter so also related to Finance. Its on company policy how they take it.

hi,
the departments in the organizations are interlinked. HR dept would plan and finance dept would execute in case of payroll. For instance, training would be scheduled and implemented by HR under the budgeting of finance dept.

Payroll have two parts
1st one is earnings (basing on actual attendance how much one employee gets - Basic pay, DA, HRA & Allowances etc., PF & ESI documentation also includes under HR)
2nd one is deductions (PF, ESI, Prof. Tax, TDS, recovery of loans etc)
Usually, earnings part covered under HR and Deductions part covered under Finance.
But in small companies where there is no specific HR department, Finance people will look after total payroll.
Thanks

Hi,
Payroll is a interlinked function of both the departments. But now a days few organization has started to create a particular department consisting of both finance and HR people to handle this function.CRK has correctly said that HR prepares the data on the basis of company policies and finance executes the data.

Payroll can be part of HR or Fianace, depends on the orgaization structure and size and expertise. However, it is a better practice to have payroll as part of HR with close liaison with finance.

Actual Payroll is under the Time Office _ Part of HR , because the Attendance collection is under time office so i think payroll processing should be under the HR
