Dear All,

This I am writing to all expert to give me a good suggestion on my issue. please provide me the solution.

What happened to me is...

Currently I working as a HOD in a private CBSE school which follows different standards not related to CBSE Norms.

This is a new school which was constructed 3 years back. The Management is very rich where they ready to do anything to students, teachers and staffs, when it was started the quality and quantity of people in the concern is very good. but year after years now the situation of school is very bad. Because the reason is Chairman. He is uneducated but he is good in running business but not good as a chairman for this institution, because he started to look school as a business in his mind.

When I joined they alloted me seperate accommodation with good salary, mean while chairman interfered with the principal and changed the mind set of some people inside the school campus, i,e chairman started alloting spy teachers against principal and all other staffs. Here the problem starts chairman have seperate group of teachers where they wont do their job instead they always pass comments about other teachers, so finally one day it became a big issue and lot of teachers has been dismissed from management side without principal knowledge. when it comes to the principal knowledge he had a hard discussion and finally principal also sent out of the school.

Then, the supporting teachers become leaders of this school as they are pillars for the school, by the way i dont have anything to do as i decided to continue my work here itself beacuse i need money to survive my family.

Later on, I did good job in all academic activities and supported all the teachers for taking the reports of students , I concentrated more on acaemic activities, Meanwhile chairman called me to give a particular tast from his side. I started his project alone which is apart from my duties. Days gone a lot , I am unable to get the project completed because lots of data are missing. then I engaged in lot of academic activities due to this I am unable to complete the seperate task alloted by chairman, because to take this work i need any other staff I requested they are not alloting the staff.

Now I am in a critical position that I need to complete his job, He is simply shouting at me, but not at all understanding my works related to academic , though i informed this un educated fellow not understanding at all.

I become upset I declared my notice period, he is telling that I am not doing his job, What I can do but i did a lot for school development.

he is stating that you are good teacher , but a bad performer.

I dono what to do , he simply shouting like some thing to do the job, whatever he knows he shouted like that, Now I had finished his project though little data are pending.

He said that he will hold my salary. When i giving my explanation but he is not ready to hear

I got depressed because of this . Full of stress

Please provide me a solutions for this

This is the sorry state-of-affairs in private run schools, esp. the schools run by non-academicians. They mean business and the education is relegated to back seat. Yes, some schools accord importance to both and acquire reputation. The institutions aiming only for reaping monetary revenue are bound to collapse one day, sooner or later.

The academicians working for such institutions will have hard time in dealing with the management, parents and students. That's why many good academics are leaving from such institutions and joining in even low-profile institutions sacrificing their compensation packages.

There is a saying "what can not be cured must be endured". If you are unsatisfied with the working culture and environment, better to look elsewhere rather than getting depressed day in and out. Too much stress is bad for health and social fabric. Take a wise decision. You are learned person and you know how to survive in this competitive world. You may have to sacrifice some comforts while relocating from the present one but it is worth to demonstrate your capabilities elsewhere.

All the best.

Dear Keerthi,

What is happening in your school is horrible. But then this is your version. We need to know the version of Principal also. Otherwise our comments are biased.

However, this is what happens at many places. Getting license to run education institution in India is quite difficult. You need political connection. Hence large number of owners of the education institutions have political affiliations. Forget about having vision, hardly they are bothered about the quality of the education.

In the fourth paragraph you have written that "chairman started alloting spy teachers against principal and all other staffs. Here the problem starts chairman have seperate group of teachers where they wont do their job instead they always pass comments about other teachers, so finally one day it became a big issue and lot of teachers has been dismissed from management side without principal knowledge. when it comes to the principal knowledge he had a hard discussion and finally principal also sent out of the school."

How many months or years before this happened? The incident or series of incidents is nothing but harbinger of what lay ahead. You should have become cautious that time itself. Why you did not think of quitting that time?

Teacher's job is noble job. They are the initiators of social change. That is why in India, teachers are valued more than god. Remember the Sanskrit shloka, Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Gurur Devo Maheshwara, Gurur Sakshat Param Brahma, Tasmai Sri Guruven Maha.

But today's scene is quite different. What dismays me further is that the case has come from the very state which has given to this country a great philosopher and educationalist, Dr S Radhakrishnan. Teacher's day is celebrated to commemorate his birthday. Unfortunately, the lofty ideals that he promoted once, lost along with him! It is because of sniffiness of the Chairman or someone else at the top, talented persons do not opt to take job in teaching!

Final Comments: - There is mismatch between the heading of the post and the contents. In what way capitalism is giving you stress? Do not hold capitalism responsible for your problems. Where you read that capitalism promotes politicking in the private education institutions? Being a teacher you should be responsible while making comments. Capitalism means wealth generation. But that does not mean that capitalist are against providing value to the end user or customer. Neither capitalism is against creating performance-centric organisation. If your Chairman had been of socialistic or communistic mindset, would it have mitigated your problems?

How can you be so cavalier while giving heading to your post? Do you handle your classes with the half-knowledge of this kind? If so then you are bound to face the problems what you are facing! By the way, what subject do you teach? Your quality of English is also inferior. This is yet another evidence of your cavalier attitude!

Ok...

Dear Keerthi,

There are a few anomalies in your post. I will pick one for example. You say "The Management is very rich where they ready to do anything to students, teachers and staffs, when it was started the quality and quantity of people in the concern is very good. but year after years now the situation of school is very bad. Because the reason is Chairman. He is uneducated but he is good in running business but not good as a chairman for this institution, because he started to look school as a business in his mind."

Who is the Chairman? Is (s)he related to the Management? Do you mean the owners were ready to do anything ...., but the new Chairman appointed is not good?

On the one hand you say that you continued there as you needed the job to support the family, but on the other you say that you have handed in the notice to quit. Like others have said either you can put up with the treatment or quit.

Finally, it is not clear as to for what problem are you seeking help. Is it how to deal with a uneducated Chairman? Is it some help for the undefined project that you have been given? Or is it how to get your unpaid wages?

I am sure other will raise more questions like that.

You also have not stated what non-academic work has the Chairman given you for which you have no data?

Coming to getting stressed, like Swami Parthasarathi and Swami Anbhavanand say, it's all how we react to a situation. I hope the lecture at Reduce Stress Through Self-Management Part 2 - YouTube will give you some ideas as to how to destress yourself.
