Greetings for the day!
There is a need to introduce Biometric Attendance in my organization,the total strength of the company is 20-25 employees for B'lore location & the company is mainly in to trading & services of Electronics & Semiconductor.
As have discussed with on of my seniors who is also a consultant, has told me that there is no any formalities for setting up of Biometric Attendance System in the organization if in the case we are maintaining form T but if there is slightly deviation in the format of form T then there should be need of taking approval from the labour officer and the procedure will consist of submission of application for approval and required format of attendance should also be attached with the application.

There is no reuirement of approval form any Labour Authories. If you are apprehending any dispute, pls issue a notice under section 9-A of Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 to your workmen/union. I think that would suffice.

We do maintain a simple attendance format as form T is not being maintained.

Under Payment of Wages Act 1963 its mandatory to maintain Attendance Register/ Payoll in certain format.
If any organization is shifting to computerised/electronic attendance/payroll systems, it must seek exemption from maintaing prescibed attendace register/payroll. from the concerned controlling authority under Payment of Wages Act.
