Hi Buddy,
If an employee works more than 48 hours in a week than you have to pay double the wages for the excess hour. So you have to calculate the weekly hours of respective employees and pay them accordingly.

Hello,
As per factories act 1948 a employee is not allowed to work for more than 9 days. If an employees are working for more than 48 hours in a week they are eligible for Overtime. And also a employee working on weekly off they should be given compensatory off prior or within 3 days from the weekly off.

Mr.Abhiram,
To engage the employee to work on weekly day of rest is not correct as per provisions of law. There are two options in this.
(1) Either you pay the double the rate of wages on the day he worked or
(2) You can give him a Compensatory day of rest during the next week against his working on his weekly day of rest
The either one you must follow ..
The working hours limits are explained by our learned members Mr.Vijay Kumar and Mr.Madangopalaswamy.
