Hi, so I was convicted for drinking in public during my UG college days. I had to pay a fine of Rs. 1000/- in local district court and the case was closed. What I wanted to understand is whether this should be disclosed in BGV forms or during job application stages asking for a criminal record? Also, will this disqualify me for employment after PGDM, especially in finance and consulting sectors?

Dear member,

For the unlawful activity conducted a few years ago, you were penalised. After the payment of the penalty, the matter is closed. Punishments are aimed at correcting one's behaviour. Even after the correction, if one is required to carry the burden of the default throughout life, then what is the purpose of the punishment?

You need not disclose the closed case in the Background Verification (BGV). You need to provide information only about the ongoing cases, and that too if you are accused or the respondent.
