TDS is Tax deducted at Source. Income Tax Act stipulates for deduction of tax at source at the time of making payments to vendors including employees. The act also stipulates the rates at which the deductions are to be made. The mainpoints of the legal provisions have been compiled by me in an excel sheet and the same is enclosed. Howevver the other two enclosures already contributed by two friends are also useful. But I like to add that the legal provisions in the Income Tax Act may please be consulted to know about the nighty grity.
