Oh seems "the end" of thread makes itself a beginning of an ignition...:icon1:..

Very true Sumit..appreciating ur views ..even I've always felt the same way but in vain..Sure it can be a call for all HR's and then others can join..maybe it can be started from our dept at workplaces and then as a chain till the orgn level as a CSR too...

So, can I request who are interested to contribute views, opinions, ideas how this can be developed as CSR (unsure if any orgn is already doing this) if possible...for instance "Raise against women/sexual abuse"

:arrow:Pls,excuse/ignore if this is a wrong post.just felt like expressing...:(

Dear Ash and Akshu,

The opening line of my post says it all – I did not disagree to the fact that such crimes on rise! But I wanted correct the tag- true stories, that’s all. I did not wish or intend for anything else!

Rumor mill creates nothing but more rumors and instead of strengthening one’s mind it creates fear and it cripples strength. The need of hour is to be aware of things going around but at the same time try to be on safer side too.

Most of us would be aware of recent murder cases where working professionals were targeted and that too females! In another case a girl is raped on a suburban train in Mumbai and five male co-passengers are unwilling to stop the rapist – to a large extent our society’s apathy and fear are to be blamed, many such incidents go unreported for various reasons.

What we need is zero tolerance towards such acts and culprits like the entire nation got united against Mumbai attacks. Our mission should be Safer India for all. We need to start cleaning our own backyard first, speak up and act.

I did not expect to start a debate, for we all know what the truth is. I just wished the poster to check before saying its truth nothing more.

Keep up the spirit and wish you all the best in your careers!

Nowadays our society is becoming worser and worser...
But the thing to notice is that in all situations only the good and kind hearted persons are affected and the strangers escape.......:-? what a society ??

Hi everyone,
The root cause of each and every crime in India is curruption at every level of law enforcement. Once you know that you can bribe your way out of any crime you have committed, there is no point in discussing about how we can make ourselves more safer, we will never be. Unless exemplary punishments are meted out to these criminals, they will keep repeating it....and the society will keep suffering from it...
Ofcourse, by sharing such incidents we can make some level of awareness amoung the masses....good anyway...

It is too bad that people have come to this. It still shocks me to know realize that we do things like this to each other. I read a great book a few years back about how to learn to protect yourself. I strongly encourage all woman to read it. It is called the Gift of Fear.
The first story, about the child and the woman, that was very very sad.

The information shared herein are important to safeguard our life.

This has happened at Chennai (Which we believe that is peace-loving) :- One of my friend was returning from a new year party on 01.1.2009 (of course he was under the influence of alcohol). Between MJL Swimming Pool, Camp Road - Indira Nagar (Selaiyur, East Tambaram), he was stopped by some youths who were seems to be celebrating New Year. As he did not foresee any foul play, he stopped his vehicle and greeted the youth. Then, suddenly one of them has punched him on the face with some hard object and others also (nearly 6 to 7) joined in beating him and after looting him of his valuables, they threw him on the side of the road. He was saved by some kind-hearted person and was under medical care for 3 days. As we know the nature of police people (also the fact that my friend was drunk that night), we did not make any complaint to the police. However, I have visited the scene of crime and collected some vital clues. I believe this is happening on every week-ends. This road is used by migrant software people, college students. (The attackers spoke slum-tamil, hence, they seems to be resident of nearby slum areas). The victims may be hesitating to come forward to lodge complaint with the police due to Language barrier or/as well as alcohol-consumption, which helps the criminals to continue their activities. So, never take it for granted that you are regular at Gym and being a male will save you. Precaution is always better.

I think Rehaman is scared to even think of such a possibility Ash [human nature tries to avoid such things]......just kidding Rehaman-so take it cool.

Whether this story is true or not, I think, isn't the issue. If they haven't happened, I don't think anyone can guarantee that they WON'T happen.

When good things....that were considered fiction earlier.....can happen later, why not such negative aspects of human nature? A case in point is the news item I saw today [ToI, Hyderabad edition, page 12 titled "Will 007 jetpack let you soar into sky?"].....something James Bond used for screen-effects 40 yrs ago is now a reality.

And let us not fool ourselves that such conmen have begun to exist only now. The Mahabharata war wouldn't have taken place had Yudhishtra not played the game of dice-despite warnings from all his near & dear. Then since such chemicals didn't exist may be the reason why Sakuni et al couldn't use it...that's all.

So the bottomline is: BE kind-hearted, helpful, etc,etc..BUT using BOTH your heart & Head. Don't blame the one who takes you for a ride...blame yourself for ALLOWING it to happen....and yet don't stop from showing the nicer side of your nature...for that's what differentiates the human from the animal. Only THINK before you do it.

Rgds,
TS
