The proposal for changes are in the Bill stage.There should not be confusion in the minds of HR professionals.
As of today there is no change.If the Bill is passed by both Houses in the next session of Parliament and thereafter Presidential assent given and then notified it will change the Bonus rates.

Sir ,
I was working with one of the 54 year old company till April2010. When I asked for my Bonus for the year 2009-2010 I was told that I am not eligible for the Bonus as my basic is above Rs.10000/- . If such is a case then how I use to get Bonus for earlier years ? Is there a clause that Bonus is not payable to employees who have resigned from services .

There was a proposal to amend the Act and accordingly a bill was proposed in 2010 and so far it is not approved by the Parliament.So can this be implemented ? As per our P&A dept information, it is clarified that it can be implemented only after Official Gazette is declared and until then the existing provisions are only applicable.
Can anyone confirm ?
