As per provisions under the Act, Estt. having 20 or more employees including contractor employees, automatically comes under the purview of the act and employer must start reporting compliance without waiting for the code no., the employer must ask for code no. as soon as he employs 20 persons.
In case of having contract employees, he becomes the Principal Employer and has to report compliance under the Act in respect of such employees also. In case contractor is having his own code no. , even then Principal Er. is responsible for ensuring compliance.
2. Till date number of employees required for coverage is 20 and not 10 as stated above .
3. For getting sub code no., the employer of covered estt. has to apply to the concerned RPFC in writing along with details for allotment of code number under section 2-A of the Act.

I am having a Partnership firm which employs around 23 persons. 4 employees get more than 8000 and rest between 3000-6000...am I liable to register under EPF..? Please eleborate.

Yes pl. The persons drawing more than 6500, though,being excluded employee, will be counted for the purpose of coverage but employer may not deduct and deposit their PF contribution provided they were not members of PF in their earlier employment ,if any.
