The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a unique identification number assigned to each employee by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in India. The process of generating a UAN in Hyderabad, India, or any other part of the country is as follows:
1. The employer needs to collect the necessary details from the employee, such as name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email ID.
2. The employer then logs into the EPFO portal using their credentials.
3. In the portal, the employer needs to navigate to the 'Register Individual' section.
4. Here, the employer enters the employee's details and submits the form.
5. Once the form is submitted, the UAN is generated and linked to the employee's PF account.
6. The UAN and password are then sent to the employee's registered mobile number.
Please note that the UAN remains the same throughout the lifetime of an employee, irrespective of the number of jobs they change. It is a crucial number as it allows the EPFO to keep track of the employee's Provident Fund contributions.
