Dear professionals, We are a main contractors in construction industry and my principal employer already taken BOCW registration and paying cess in chennai and pune. My question is, whether contractor also needs to take BOCW registration, since labour inspectors insisting us to take the same.
Please guide in this matter.

Dear Praveen446 Main contractor also have to take/apply BOCW Registration separately in their name & 1% of Cess amount {excluding tax} has to pay the respective state government on every invoice.

My conclusions are:-
As per the BOCW Act the number of deployment exceed 10 Nos the BOCW Registration is necessary. As per your today's post says "Contractor no need to pay cess , since it is principal employer liability. But i am not sure in BOCW Registration".
The matter of Cess will comes only after taking the BOCW Registration. This is for your information.
