As Mark Twain famously said, Death and taxes are two certainties of Life.
Taxes make the state/government run. They are used in providing so many things to the citizens including defence of their land. In fact, it would be appropriate that you seriously study some school text-books on economics and polity to understand the concept of taxes.
If there is any provision of exemption, then one can avail it; else it would amount to TAX EVASION and is punishable under the Law.
