Dear Friends,
We have above ground vertical type storage tankfarm for Petrolium solvents.
1. How much distabce has to maintain between a Tank to tank?
2. How much volume Bund to be proprovided for the tank/ Tank farm?
3. Is common bund acceptable or Separate bunds required for each solvent?
Please share the IS or any relavent standard.
As this is very urget requirement, would appericiate your propmt response.

Dear Srinivasa Rao,
1. How much distabce has to maintain between a Tank to tank?
As per OSHA
1910.110(b)(6)(vii)
The minimum separation between liquefied petroleum gas containers and flammable liquid tanks shall be 20 feet, and the minimum separation between a container and the centerline of the dike shall be 10 feet. The foregoing provision shall not apply when LP-Gas containers of 125 gallons or less capacity are installed adjacent to Class III flammable liquid tanks of 275 gallons or less capacity.
2. How much volume Bund to be proprovided for the tank/ Tank farm?
As per Osha 1910.110(b)(19)(v)(a)
It is impossible to set out in a table the length of a fixed dip tube for various capacity tanks because of the varying tank diameters and lengths and because the tank may be installed either in a vertical or horizontal position. Knowing the maximum permitted filling volume in gallons, however, the length of the fixed tube can be determined by the use of a strapping table obtained from the container manufacturer. The length of the fixed tube should be such that when its lower end touches the surface of the liquid in the container, the contents of the container will be the maximum permitted volume as determined by the following formula:
[(Water capacity (gals.) of container* X filling density**)
divided by
(Specific gravity of LP-Gas* X volume correction factor X 100)]
= Maximum volume of LP-Gas
*Measured at 60 deg. F.
**From subparagraph (12) of this paragraph "Filling Densities."
For aboveground containers the liquid temperature is assumed to be 40 deg. F. and for underground containers the liquid temperature is assumed to be 50 deg. F. To correct the liquid volumes at these
temperatures to 60 deg. F. the following factors shall be used.
1910.110(b)(19)(v)(b)
Formula for determining maximum volume of liquefied petroleum gas for which a fixed length of dip tube shall be set:

3. Is common bund acceptable or Separate bunds required for each solvent?
It should be a separate bond.
Hope i answered you on time. I don't have any IS standards with me at the moment.

Dear Raghu,
Thanks for the reply.
You may rfer to API standard in case you do not have IS Standard.
We do not have this requirement, hence I may not be able to comment on this.
Actually all Indian Standards are based on Other International standards.
API must have given the details.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear SRM
We had earlier discussed in one thread regarding the Dyke Wall Construction... Please go through the below thread... I am not sure whether its of help to you or not???

Do let us know you got solution to the query or not???
Thanks to Raghu for detailed reply and Sudhir Sir... Keep up the great work...

Dear Raghu,
Thank you verymuch for your propmt and detailed reply.
1. For my First question, your advice is appropriate.
2. My Second and Third questions regarding Bund i.e. Dyke. But you understood as Dip pipe of the tank.
I got the answer from earlier discussion provided by Mr. Dipil. Thank very much Dipil.
Even I am searching for an Indian Standard on this subject. If available I will share.
I request alll mates to share the same if available with them.
