Maternity Benefit Eligibility under ESIC and Impact of Work from Home on Claim Amount - CiteHR

Dear Friends,

I have a doubt regarding Maternity Benefit. My sister is working in a private organization with a date of joining on 01.04.2014. Her gross salary is 20000. Is she eligible for Maternity Benefit? Her delivery date is 10.01.2018. For the last five months, she did not go to the office and worked from home only, receiving half of her salary for the last six months. Just ten days ago, she applied for maternity benefit from the ESIC local office. Is she eligible for the benefit? If she is eligible, how much amount can she claim?

Thank you.

If she is under ESI, then she can claim benefits from the ESI Corporation. Since she has been a member of ESI since 2014, she should have satisfied the eligible contributory conditions. Her eligibility can be checked by logging into the IP portal of ESIC. The maternity benefit is equal to the average salary per month.
