Managing PF Contributions for Businesses with Fewer Employees: Compliance and Consequences - CiteHR

I am having a small Ayurveda clinic in Chennai, and I have been registered for 14 years. Only one employee has worked with me from the beginning. I have paid PF for him only because the total number of employees is below 20. Six months ago, that old employee resigned. So, I have stopped PF contributions because the total number of employees is below 20.

Are there any legal consequences for this situation? Is there a way to cancel the PF registration number? Could you please help me in this regard?

Regards,
Siva Ganesh

Unless the company is closed permanently and the bank account trade license is surrendered, EPF and ESIC cannot be closed. However, the employer has to submit only a monthly administrative challan of Rs. 75 to EPF in case of no employees. If any employee joins in the future, then the establishment has to maintain it on a regular basis again.
