Sommou
Hello all,

I work in a very reputed school of raipur chattisgarh since Aug 2016. In Dec 2016 i came to know that I am a month pregnant but I was equally capable of working as other teachers. In Jan, I have reported this news to our head mistress. Everything was fine previously but just after a month she called me and asked me take off from work for 1 complete year as they will face difficulty because of my pregnancy. When I refused to do the same, she intentionally took off my classes and didn't allowed me to contribute in any of the work. I have requested our principal after this so she has given me upto Apr 2017 time to continue job then i will have to leave. In June after summer vacation when I have applied for maternity leave, she refused even didn't give me assurance for keeping my job security as well. If I am unable to join within 3 months of delivery, I will lost my job. I am very upset. Is this valid? What should I do?

Moreover my due date is on August 2017. So I have applied for maternity leave 8 weeks before my due date. Please suggest. Shall I file a complaint?

Dear Sommou,
If you are regular employee of the school and have proper documentation, then you will be covered under Maternity Act and also job security been taken care under this act. You need to give a written application to the management not for 3 months but for 26 weeks of maternity leave. After getting an reply from them in writing you may decide further course of action. Also, if they deny in writing then you can go to nearest labor office for assistance and seeking help from them. They will surely be helpful in this matter.

Thank you so much Manoj Kamble ji for your kind suggestion. I was a regular employee, I am having my appointment letter from school as well as my id card. Moreover i am having bank statement for receiving continuous salary upto June 2017.All these documentations are enough i guess. @MANOJKAMBLE
