Dear Member,
This depends upon the applicability of the Act. If your company is covered under Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 then you are required to maintain this register in Form 'C'. If this company is covered under Factories Act, 1948 then you are to maintain this register under Punjab Factory Rules, 1952 in Form 25.

Dear Sir,
Kindly advise, My Company is under Haryana Shop & Establishment Act.
We are not maintaining any attendance register we are taking attendance through Bio Matric Machine and recording the same hard copies in files.
Is there any need to maintain attendance register, If yes then pls advise which register we need to maintain OR it is compulsory to take employees signature on that or else we can mark "P", "L" by HR.

Dear Member,
While implementing applicable Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 as applicable to the state of Haryana, we are to maintain Attendance register in Form 'C'. In maintaining this register we are to take signature of the employee concern on this register.

Do refer reply by Khola. It explains everything you need to comply. Do not think of alternatives when legal provisions are defined.
