Dear Friends
I am working with a Japanese Automobile MNC. Total manpower as on date is 900 Employees. 600 are in worker level. To maintain good Industrial relation I wish to make a vigilance system design. Can any one support me in preparing a Vigilance design so that I can get the correct information about the workers working in the shop floor.
I wish to prepare a information system wherein I should get report of all the IR activities in the shop floor.

Dear Friend
Greetings. As a fair play, there cannot be 'vigilance' but there can be "MIS", of course, that does not rule out routine security measures. So also the details that you are seeking on productivity, behavior, etc. can be picked up from various documents like daily production, goods returned, goods re-returned, average daily consumption of raw material, alert documentation from the shop floor. This needs to be top driven. Again the design can be different in different sections/departments and purposes. The final picture will have to emerge in the Corporate Affairs division. This obviously needs to be done judiciously and cautiously.

Hi Abhirutu
Thank you very much for the prompt reply.
Actually I have joined this company very recently and I want to have a network to get the information regarding workers activities on the shop floor.
I want that any concern from workers side should reach HR department on time.
Do you have a sample design / Flow chart on the design for procurring information from workers side. Or can you forward me the MIS format you have with you .
Thanks

Hi
I was travelling. Hence could not reply. Let me tell you there is no fixed format or document for getting the information especially vigilance. Every document is of importance. We use different formats for different purposes but ultimately it is your "attention" to a particular piece of information is important. This is so because many a times the documents come fabricated or figures come manipulated or messages come distorted. I am sure you will be able to create your own set of processes to keep in touch with everything that is happening on the shop floor. Why do not you call me on 09822395659 and I might be able to suggest some process to you.

I have often seen both HR/ production managers hire/ place some stooges for seeking info, this undermines the very structure n lines of communication which HR seeks to build.
eventually a HR manager is saddled with incompetents who meet over coffee/tea every now n then and seek favors too.
also read
a) "Code of practise on workplace surveillance, UK"
b) telecommunication (lawful business practices and interception of communication" regulations 2000
c) CTPAT by US custom Border Patrol
d) ISO 27001
Lastly remember, do not infringe on individual rights.
