Hi All, I am currently working for an IT company in Bangalore. I am working here since one and half years. This organization is 4 year old and has 62 employees, of which 10 are female employees. Employees of this company are covered under medical insurance, but maternity is not covered into that.
I would like to know. if there are any provisions under which medical insurance cover my maternity. Other ideas would also be appreciated.
Thanks

1. Sir, please indicate whether your establishment is covered under ESI Act, 1948 and if so, whether said 10 female employees are covered under this Act.
2. If female employees are not covered under ESI Act, 1948, then such employees will be covered and entitled for maternity benefit under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 if the eligibility conditions under this Act are satisfied in respect of employees claiming such benefits.
3. The issue as raised by you whether "there are any provisions under which medical insurance cover my maternity" can be ascertained from insurance companies which provide such commercial insurance.

Hello Sir,
Thanks for your reply.
1. My company is not covered under ESI Act, 1948.
2. My company is ok to give 12 weeks paid leaves. So what esle is covered under Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, kindly let me know
3. My main concern is our medical insurance policy doesn't cover the maternity. Because I am the only married female employee in the company. Mostly young employees are working here.
Looking forward to hear from you.a
Thanks
Shaista
