Hi All

I was recently provided with a performance improvement document and requested to sign. I refused signing the document and put my resignation forward. The manager also accepted my resignation in next 30 minutes as soon as I submitted without even a meeting or reasoning with me. Now After two weeks the manager is coming to me with HR and forcing me to sign the PIP document. The person actually has a grudge against me but playing very safe. the reason I resigned was for the very purpose, however he is still not allowing me to peacefully serve my notice period and move forward in my life. My Question is can a HR take some legal action to terminate me or force me to sign such document? I think my manager is trying to save him self because others are not happy in team and one other person had left 3 months back. He tried playing safe by sending me two communications saying I am below work then came up with this PIP document. I have received appreciation for my work and training efforts, infact solved a number of work related tasks for which I got appreication. do I continue to reject or simply sign the PIP document? I am not happy with this management, and want to leave the company and go else where, yet after resignation, I am being forced to do this. I also plan on putting an email stating the condition of my family as they are ill, I am requesting for an early release. Can someone help me answer, can company force me in my notice to sign a PIP

Do not sign on PIP, even they are forcing to you for signature on the same ask them reason for PIP, it must be in written. what are your targets to achieve during PIP period?

They have cooked up variety of reason, behaviour issues, sent me emails 2 occassions stating this is your target and you need to pick up. The problem is with this indian managers I am under as they are jealous of me receiving all appreciation for the work I do, they want to degrade me in front of US Lead and managers. I have received a number of appreciations from them for the effort and work I do. Recieved appreciation from client too. I was one of the quickest to learn stuff when trained, infact I was awarded with some internal points for this. All I care now is I want to peacefully get out of organisation, just started my career and run into such a bad manager. I put my papers down, he accepted it, not sure what more he wants from me. He will keep a meeting with HR and wants me to sign the paper then, what does it matter when I am resigning.

This is what I think is happening, the manager is getting questions from US leads asking why 2 people resigned, the other person also left due to this manager behaviour and issue. When the US leads asked, they gave a reason she left on personal reasons. When the US lead directly called her, as they had good relations, she explained that he is lying and I am leaving because of pressure, now when I am leaving I think he is in a tight spot and want to degrade me and show that he did the right thing and nothing bad.

Do not sign any document, that too on backdate.
The document could be used against you to prove your incompetence.
The fact that you have been appreciated by others is important and that is the reason the manager wants your signature on PIP.
Highlight your achievements and appreciations from cleints instead.
You press ahead with your resignation and seek better job.

You have already resigned and they have accepted your resignation, do not sign any back dated documents.
Keep a copy of all the apperications received with you.
Stay put on your resignation and move ahead in life.

The HR is making claims that since I continue to serve the company in notice period, I am obliged to sign it. Also my manager just spoke to me and stated that the higher management is requiring this to be signined as they are paying me still and since I am working for the company pay check. Not sure why they want me to sign it when I have put down my papers. Do they want to humiliate me and terminate me or some sort of grudge. They cannot terminate me for not signing the paper right? Not sure if they are going to make some schema's and falsely accuse me or make some story and then terminate me. After signing PIP if they terminate me, won't it cause a black mark to my experience and all my 1 yr of experience will be void?? This is what I am afraid which is why I submitted my resignation.
