Plz clarify:
I need help on following points:
1. Employee contribution to EPF has been made voluntary in Union Budget 2015. Has this rule become applicable?
2. At many places I have read that Employer contribution will be calculated on the basis of threshold limit of maximum basic salary (i.e. 15000 now and 6500 earlier) irrespective of the fact that employee is getting higher basic salary. Suppose if employee is getting basic salary of 17000 then should we calculate employer share on Rs. 15000 or on Rs. 17000??

I am not aware if any notification has yet been issued to activate Union Budget proposal of making employee contribution to EPF voluntary.
Salary threshold is also not specified yet.
Whether basic salary is 15000 or 17000 employer share will be on Rs15000 only.

Statutory obligation is on ceiling salary, i.e 15000. But if employee and employer wish, contribution can be on actual salary beyond ceiling. Abbas.P.S

Dear singh, as per your question for employee ceiling limit has raised from 6500/- to 15000/- but for employer it remains the same that is 6500/- and percentages, rules, pension rules everything same only

No, ceiling salary hiked to Rs. 15000 means employer is also obliged to contribute on actual salary up to Rs. 15000. Otherwise who will contribute to Employees' Pension Scheme - 1995. Abbas.P.S
