Recently Maharshtra Govt. has allowed companies covered under Shops & Estt, Factory Act, etc.to maintain salary, muster,leave and other such registers in electronic format.

I was not able to translate the whole GR, but main points are as below:
In view of changed industrial scenario and use of computers in storing data, Govt. of Maharashtra is allowing electronic data storage subject to strict adhrance to rules and regulations of following acts :
Factories Act 1948, Maharashtra Factories Regulations 1963 clause 96,99, 105 and 106, shop and establishment act 1948, MW act 1948, Payment of Wages act 1936, Bonus act 1965, Maternity Benefit Regulations 1961.
It is further stated that at the time of inspection, Hard copy of the electronic data should be made available.
Subject to the above, computerised records are allowed.
