Dear all
As you are aware for the development of organisation, the employee need to be efficient & hardworking as well attend the office regularly. But we find that the employees avail their casual, sick & earned/privileage leave without knowing their responsibilities. Presently we have 12-CL, 12-SL and 21-EL.
I request you all to advise me to reduce this kind of absentism and also what to know if we can revoke the casual leaves. Further, can you furnish me the minimum leaves to be allotted in an organisation.
I would be obliged if you all could post your replies immediately.
Thank you

Dear dhanasree,
I feel that your company has granted more than the required Leaves in the policy, I really wonder since we are given 12cl's & only 15 other eligible leaves be it sick or earned leaves.
I recommend you to stremline the policy once again, may be you can start the new one effective from next year 2008.
in order to make them aware of the seriousness send the attendance status report to the supervisors concerned, ask them to issue the office memos incase any employee exceeds the limit,
Make employees aware that punctuality also effects the perfomance appraisal system.

Hello

The following can be done,

a) Number of leaves offered by the Organization should be reduces, We have 21 leaves and 11 public holiday.

b) Norms of taking leaves should be made strict? If leaves taken without intimation then that should fall under "LOSS OF PAY"

c) If an employee is taking more leaves, the Supervisor( reporting manager ) should have some discussion with him to understand the problem ...and try to give a solution. Incase there are no genuine problems than thats the indication that he is not happy, or the company is not able to keep him 100% occupied.

d) You should discuss with engineering heads to understand first if they have enough task to keep resources occupied if the answer is yes then you need to question him why the engineers is enjoying the freedom....

But if the answer is no then you need to take the matter with Sr. Managers, because it takes pretty good time to recruit right resource n if we could not keep them occupied...there may be room for attrition.

e) the employee's satisfaction level should also be checked.

Hope, this helps you.

regards,

Veena

At the outset, I would like to thank all of you for having replied to my query.
Srilatha & Vena, I really agree to what you say...
My Management would like to restructe leave policy as per Indian labour law. He would like to evoke casual leaves.
Hence I once again request you all to help me out to reframe the leave policy and also clarify me whether as per labour law can we revoke the casual leaves.
Further, any employees covered under ESI, are they eligible for the medical leave?
Mr.John, if you could give me some advise, would really be grateful to you.
Thank you
