Well as a career counselor i would like to know you are planing for Hotel Management after MBA ( HR) first?
You must have good reasons for for same i wish and must have a career plan in your mind, or you must be clear that how and where you have to be after few years in your career .
If you are seriously planing for hotel management then doing this course in regular mode will be best , as this trade involves maximum practical exposers , contents, topics etc which can be learnt through practical or physical approach only, so try to find some good universities near by your place , or google some best hotel management courses providers Universities/Colleges and accordingly step up further and move ahead.
But i must say again make a clear frame out of your career desires,expectations from career, accordingly proceed further.

If you have in you to learn from scratch the rituals of hotels only then and only then go in for the hotel industry. Its one thing to clean your home toilet and other when you have to learn to clean the toilets of others.... This is just one of the examples.
I am both and Hotel Management and MBA HR personnel, therefore i can say that if you do choose hotel management, kiss your socal life a complete bye bye....

I am in agreement with the opinions expressed by both of my friends.
Let me first add that after HR going to another line (hotel mgmt etc) will require your re-orientation to that particular discipline and that will mean ignoring your HR education and knowledge for the purpose. HR itself is a vast discipline where different avenues are available, hence search of a suitable job should not be a problem.
In case you have concluded that by doing HR you have not done justice with your aspirations and that Hotel Management will meet your requirement and expectations in such a situation I will advise you to do it through a regular course from an established and reputed institution as lot of institutional activities are involved which you will be denied if you go through the distance education mode.

It sounds very absurd that you wish to do your Hotel Mgmt after your MBA.
I have worked in this industry (in Taj, IHHR, Bharat Hotels & Leela) for 38 years, and my experience is that, this is a good career, provided you have the aptitude for the same. One of my colleagues has mentioned above that your social life gets butchered in this industry. Which is partly true to the great extent, but again it all depends on your mindset and what are you looking for in your career. It is tough no doubt. However there are so many people, ( males as well as females) who are so passionate about this Industry, and they are doing extremely well.
There are so many ladies I know of, who have been doing extremely well in their career in this industry and they are not repenting,( because that is what they are looking for in their career). Initially it is a very tough career, because you need learn everything yourself to master the skills and job knowledge ( which helps tremendously for your future career growth, ) Once you master your Department's Job Knowledge and skills, and develop leadership skills ( which Reputed Hotels teach in house) then you will not look back in your career, ( Then it is fast track career, and here your MBA in HR will help you for leadership skills/qualities)
I would advise you to get your aptitude test done, in a reputed Institute, which will tell you, whether you are made for career in the Hospitality industry. This will also give you an idea which department in this Industry, you are made for. In case you are creative and if you like cooking, you will shine as Chef. you will also get to know the other career options, through A. T.)
In case you decide to do the Hotel Mgmt., pl do it in a reputed Institute or join the Management Training Programme of a Reputed Hotel Chain, in which case you need not pay, and in fact you will earn salary. However you need to have good academic record ( with mastery in any subject you enjoyed during your academic career) and good communication skills.
Here is the information regarding the names of Institutes:
In India 24 institutes providing training in hotel management are affiliated to National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) , There are other institutes run by hotel chains and finally, Private Hotel Management institutes with foreign affiliations. For the student, the best bet is to try for courses offered by reputed chains of hotels or institutes coming under the National Council.
