As far as I know, the so called DA is applicable only to the Govt employees but not applicable for other Pvt organisations. Pon

Agreed with Pon1965 and i want to draw attention to the "Airfreight Limited, Bangalore vs State Of Karnataka And Others on 30 March, 1998" whose copy is enclosed for the reference in which the difference in basic salary & dearness allowances was defined. Copy enclosed for the reference.

Thank You both for those valuable inputs, On a reading of the Karnataka High Court judgement which Sumit has attached, it is apparently clear that if the employer is paying a total sum of money which is higher than the appicable minimum wages, then the employer is not required to pay any Dearness Allowance. Please correct me if I am wrong.
