Dear All
Opening a Thread to understand views of Expert on " Paternity leave to a male employee in case of miscarriage of his wife"
There are maternity benefits and leaves to a female employee, we all are mostly aware of this. We also know the provisions of leave in case of abortion for them.
Seeking your valuable advice and views on Leave for a male employee in case of miscarriage / abortion of his wife. As per law we do have provisions for leave for a female employee, the question is why there is no such provision for a male employee? The family undergoes with a turmoil and pain .... In this fast life a family is so nuclear a husband is the only one for the lady to take her out from it.
The HR practices has changed .... policies came for a better work, employee and company relationship. We always need to change for the betterment and this should be continual.
Your views may help me to formulate and implement a policy on this.
thanks
Sachin

Dear Sachiindra,
You effort to find the answer have answered the question.
Nothing stops us to grant leaves to an employee on such human reasons.
It would be good if Legal authorities and government bodies, declare this as a law.
However, till then we are free to continue it as one of our best practices at our organisations .
Now, here's my question , do you work at the HR Department at your firm ? We might be able to help you propose this to your management .
Hope that answers your question
