Sir(s),
Any employee who was previously covered under ESI Act, 1948 should disclose his old Insurance Number to the officials of his new employer. The HR people/officials dealing in ESI matters in such new organisation while completing necessary formalities should disclose the old insurance number of employee to the concerned Branch Office of ESIC.
The concerned Branch Office of ESIC can make corrections etc. to ESIC Identity Card earlier issued to such employee. Such corrections will include the changes regarding Code Number etc. of new employer on such Identity Card.
Further employees getting "wages" upto and including Rs. 15000/- per month are coverable under provisions of above Act at present. Regarding what constitute "wages", I suggest you to see relevant definition of "wages" in said Act. The term "wages" cannot be defined in terms of words "CTC" or "take home salary". For further studies and guidance I will suggest you to download necessary literature from the website of ESIC.
