Dear All,
Iam currently working as an HR executive in stock broking company
were the major part of my profiles includes recruiting people for my
organization at all levels through out all the branches but my major
problem is this that wen ever I calls to the candidates either they r not
interested fr change or on the other side they don't turn up for the
interview on the schedule date. For the past one month I am working on
this profile but I am actually not getting how to handle these candidates.
Can somebody Pls suggest. is something going wrong on my part.
Becoz my piers say that I am rude while speaking but other school of
thought is that my voice is to heavy.

This is a very common problem faced by all HR Professinals.I will put forward my views to these problems
1.Candidates not interested-Open a conservation with the candidate by giving a short description about the companys profile.Also for senior level candidates you can touch upon the future growth path of the candidate in your company.
2.Candidates not turning up for Interviews.
Please check out on the candidates interest in the particualr job role while talking to them.Also check out their interest in the particular company
Draft a mail giving all the details of the Interview and send it to the candidate and ask for a reply from them confirming the availability of the candidate on the given date and time.Candidates who do not intend to attend the Interview will usually not reply to the mails so you can take additional care to deal with such candidates that is by giving them a call a day before the Interview etc

I agree to turn up for interview, then I ask them for paying me conveyance, if they agree [which they never do] still I tell them I will come,, then on interview date I dont go.
Look you have to offer atleast travelling allowance to outside candidates.
If candidates inside your city are not comming then as people say may be your are too smart on phone and asking too HR questions, and too rude as ur frnds / collegues tell.

I also face this problem.To avoid this we should speak truly with candidate and over phone in the preliminary stage v should analyze his suitability for the particular post and v make them to understand their profile is relevant to the post called for and if he attend the interview there is bright chance to be selected.Further v should give them flexible timing to attend interview.further of all v should remember what ever problem v face while v personally go for an interview .if v approach in this way v can come thro from this problem to certain extent.

many a times candidates who confirm too do not turn up for the appointment. Dont get disheartened. It is a fairly common trend.
My suggestion is you call only those candidates
- whose cv has the closest match to your requirements
- begin with telling them how you came across their profile
- Ask them if they are looking for a change
- Tell them about the company and the opening
- Ask them to tell you briefly about themselves
- this should cover their current co, duration, their role, current ctc,
expected ctc, notice period
- Tell them about your recruitment process
- reconfirm their email id and tell them you would send across the
company profile and the JD to them. Ask them to respond back with a
copy of their updated cv and a confirmation of their availability on the
designated date
As far being rude on the phone is concerned, take the advice sportingly if there are more than 2 of them telling you the same thing, then obviously you need to evaluate yourself. Try to infuse politeness into your voice. Would you like a placement consultant of any other recruiter calling you and talking rudely to you? would you like to go for an interview for such a company? if you answer these questions, then you have your solution.

Hi Ask them to submit a copy of their accepted resignation letter. Keep in touch with them on a regular basis. These are some pointers. Hope it helps Richa

obviously,telephone conversation should be friendly nature,even there is really a good opportunity for the candidates,they would not turn up.it is purely based on telephonic conversation we use to have on phone.but the ratio normally would be 2:100 ratio(out of 100 calls 2 surely turns up).So this is very ethically happens in recruitment.so you need not to be worried.but change your telephonic conversation style so that you may surely get a strong line up for the interview.
